Natural cotton canvas, hand-painted motifs using screen printing ink.

Reverse side pattern screen printed . Additional materials include thread, filling, metal rod, and a metal chain.

The large mattress reflects on the role of art, craft, architecture, and industry. These painted motifs, arranged in a non-hierarchical way, create a multitude of potential narratives that critique how modern architecture, design, and craft achievements often fail to acknowledge their real creators. The piece encourages viewers to find their own stories within the patterns—perhaps even their own.

The title references the dismissive remark made by architect Le Corbusier to designer Charlotte Perriand: "We don’t embroider cushions here", when she applied for a job at his office. The work highlights images of those who have built and sustained their economic and discursive independence through textile work— emphasizing the resilience of whom have also given voice to political movements and protests resisting the risk of erasure.
